A Womb with a View: It’s Positive
MomSquawk is thrilled to present a new blog series, “A Womb with a View”, chronicling the ups and downs of one woman’s pregnancy.
My period was due days ago. I wasn’t worried, though — I’ve taken 101 pregnancy tests and they’ve all been negative. So I stopped taking them last week because it was obviously a waste of money and energy.
Until yesterday. So there I am, at the local drugstore, buying just one more pregnancy test. This time, I’m going to buy a digital test because I won’t have to stress about how to read the lines (one line positive two lines negative…or is it cross positive, one line negative..you get my point). I make my purchase, bribe my two year old, Cole, with a lollipop (after tugging to make sure it’s not going to come loose and cause him to choke) and move on with my day. He has been sick for going on two weeks now and is finally beginning to feel human, so we go on with the rest of our day, as normal.
Park, shopping, nap, zoo. It’s after 7 p.m. now and we make a run for the grocery store — where I remember that test in my purse. After snagging a banana from the kids table, we head to the restroom where I pee on the stick whilst bribing him (again) with a banana. He starts choking, I rescue him from the banana (twice) and go to leave the restroom. Oh wait! What about that test? I glance back at it and the little screen is flashing “PREGNANT”.
A few tests later (both digital and the old fashioned kind), it’s still a BFP (big freaking positive). I’ll tell my husband today. He’s going to be thrilled because we’ve been casually trying to conceive (TTC) for 6 months now. Then, I need to set up a doctor’s appointment…and start potty training Cole…and what about a room for the baby…dig out baby clothes…find my blood sugar monitor…
It’s going to be a fun nine months; thanks for coming along for the ride.
