More Toy Recall News: Mattel has announced another major toy recall. In addition to the 1 million Fisher Price Sesame Street and Dora character toys recalled for possible lead paint, Mattel issued a warning about the “Sarge” Die Cast toys from the Pixar Cars movie assortments. The surface paint on the cars may contain dangerous amounts of lead.

Only models made in China are affected (look on the bottom of the car - some say Made in China, others Made in Thailand) and of those, only the models imprinted with certain alphanumeric codes. Check the Mattel recall page on this product to determine if your child’s Sarge is recalled.

Other new Mattel recalls involve toys containing small magnets that can become loose. Magnets can be very dangerous if aspirated or swallowed. (More on magnet trouble on this Sunshine post from a couple weeks ago.)

Recalled Mattel toys containing magnets include several Polly Pocket items, various Batman and company “Magna” action figures, and Doggie Daycare sets. Check the product page on the Mattel site for pictures of the recalled toys.

Finally, Mattel is also recalling certain Barbie and Tanner the dog sets, also for magnet hazards.

Tanner is the dog who actually poops, and the Barbie comes with a scooper to clean up after him. According to the CPMC, there are over 600,000 folks out there who bought this product.
