Kids can help you lose weight

There are many resources all over the place that tell you the best strategies to lose those extra pounds. There are pills, personal trainers, gyms, sports gear and internet communities. But nothing beats the help kids can bring to that process.

According to Sparkspeople, there are 11 things you can learn from kids that will help you make healthy eating decisions:

  • Everything can be a game - My three boys have taught me that you should always have fun.
  • If you don’t like it, don’t eat it.
  • Laughter feels good - Nothing helps more that being in good mood.
  • Playtime is important.
  • The world should be full of color— Your plate can be a rainbow.
  • It’s always more fun with friends around - Get friends and family involve during this journey.
  • Adventures are found outside, not inside.
  • It’s important to use your imagination.
  • Anything is possible - Let yourself do whatever your mind can handle.
  • You have your whole life ahead of you.

For some of us weight loss can be an never-ending journey. First we have to know that this is not a punishment for being fat, but rather an opportunity to improve our lives. Being healthy is the way to be. It needs to be incorporated into our lives and not be seen as just something to do for an specific dress we want to wear.

I have always been a believer that we can learn a lot from our children. It never crossed my mind that advice on how to get a healthy lifestyle could be learned from kids. When kids are motivated they embrace any project and they will reach the impossible. Why not let eating healthy be one of those goals?
