Toy Recall: Toy manufacturer Hasbro announces a recall of the ever-popular Easy Bake Oven. This recall comes after 249 reports of children getting their hands or fingers caught in the oven’s opening, some leading to burns and even one report of a partial amputation of a finger on a 5 year old girl. This recall includes all ovens with Model number 65805 and “Hasbro” are stamped into the plastic on the back of the oven. The toy was sold between May 2006 and July 2007 at major toy retailers nationwide. If you own this toy you are urged to call Easy Bake at (800) 601-8418 for instructions on how to return the oven and get a voucher towards another Hasbro product.
Kick counts: Two studies show that Restless Leg Syndrome is caused by specific genes, and as many as 65 percent of adults carry the gene that can cause symptoms. Pregnant women with RLS offer another clue: the link between RLS and iron. A pregnant woman’s iron levels can drop during pregnancy, which may explain why some women who suffer from RLS during pregnancy see symptoms disappear within weeks after delivery. For the 20 million Americans suffering from RLS this is all good news because researchers can use the gene knowledge to help diagnose and treat RLS.

Wow…this is now the 2nd recall for Easy Bake within recent years. They better do some major changes to the line before they put it back out!

We have this easy bake oven and I just don’t get it. Our fingers don’t go anywhere near the opening if you use that thing to push it in. Also, the oven is for 8-12 year old not 5. It is sad that even one child got hurt using this. However, parents need to pay attention to the age suggestions and monitor their children.
