Britney’s baby name: The new addition to the Britney Spears clan, has reportedly been named Sutton Pierce Federline, sharing initials with one-year-old brother, Sean Preston Federline.
The Prince goes home: Japanese Princess Kiko and Prince Alkishino return home with their newborn son, Prince Hisahito. Prince Hisahito was born prematurely on September 6 due to reported complications from Princess Kiko’s pre-eclampsia. He is the first male born to the Imperial Family in almost forty one years.
Hospital error leads to tragic loss of life: Two premature infants died at an Indianapolis hospital after they were given adult doses of Heparin, a blood thinner. The hospital admits that human error was the cause of the overdoses. An investigation is underway.
Hope for newborns with brain damage: A “cooling blanket” seems to help newborns with brain damage avoid a second wave of brain injury, by lowering the metabolic rate. Studies report that this cooling results in a 27% drop in death and disability for babies born with brain damage.
